Tournai
Second placed in a competition in Tournai, Belgium, in collaboration with Coton-Lelion-Nottebaert. The competition brief was to adapt a series of disconnected existing buildings next to Tournai cathedral into a public building for the city, with permanent and temporary exhibitions, meeting rooms and workshops, and lecture theatre. Our design wove a public path through the complex, with filigree new structures linking the different levels and wings of the existing buildings to each other and to the surrounding streets, with an atmosphere that would be both theatrical and participatory.
